CONTRAL HISTORY

Founded in 1995 while Allen Engel worked in Savannah, GA. He met many drivers there frustrated by current methods of delivering containers in exact locations. Allen found a solution in The Chain Drive. By switching from a traditional cable winch trailer with a very high tilt angle to a low angle trailer with a chain drive he found that drivers could deliver containers under any conditions quickly and easily.

The first trailers were all drop deck designs aimed at keeping the container as low to the ground as possible when under way. Soon customers wanted to be able to deliver containers with their pickup trucks. No problem. The chain drive worked just as well with a gooseneck trailer. Goosenecks quickly became the fastest selling trailers.

The final evolution came with the heavy haul models. Bigger customers needed bigger capacity. The team got together and found ways to apply a chain drive system to a trailer with a 100,000lb GVW.
